With the news that this year’s Sensing Technology exhibition will now incorporate the Sensors+Systems for Control & Instrumentation show, the event is set to be bigger and better than ever before. The combined show, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham on 25th and 26th September 2012, will provide a truly focused national show for the sensing, test, measurement and control and instrumentation industries
The combined force of leading publishing house Datateam Business Media and conference and event organisers Trident Exhibitions promises to make this year’s Sensing Technology show a must for those in the industry. The show builds on the success of previous years, evolving to meet the needs of visitors and exhibitors alike. In addition to companies showing the latest developments in sensor technology, the show this year will also feature manufacturers and suppliers of test and measurement products and other types of Instrumentation.
Time well spent
With most people experiencing intense time pressures throughout their working day, does it really make sense to take the time to visit an exhibition? The answer to that question is most definitely yes! At an exhibition you can collect information on specific products, network with knowledgeable professionals, see working demonstrations of devices and equipment, see many different companies and products in one place at one time, and see, touch and even try out new equipment, something that you can’t do on a website or achieve looking through a brochure.
And if such compelling reasons weren’t enough, this year’s Sensing Technology is co-located with a number of other exhibitions, including MM, MEMS and NANO, Mediplas, TCT Live and the PPMA show.
The show will be packed with exhibitors all keen to demonstrate their latest products. One such company is Impress Sensors and Systems, who will show an extended range of digital pressure transmitters, the IMP series, which is now available with a digital RS485 interface and Modbus RTU output. Also on stand D4 will be multi-channel process controllers with Modbus connectivity and a larger 5.7 inch backlit display, as well as a new digital pressure and temperature transmitter with a USB?interface module.
Manufacturer of moisture measurement solutions, Michell Instruments, will show the newest addition to its oxygen analyser range. The XTP601 uses thermo-paramagnetic sensors to provide stable and reliable measurements in background gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide. The company will also show their ranges of moisture sensors and instrumentation and relative humidity probes on stand B5.
Visitors to the Micro-Epsilon stand (G5) will have the opportunity to view recent innovations in infrared temperature measurement, thermal imagers, eddy current and laser displacement measurement.
For example, the thermoIMAGER TIM 400 and 450 series of inline infrared thermal imagers is able to capture and store thermal video and images with a high optical resolution of 382 x 288 pixels at a full frame rate of 80Hz. The stand will also feature what is said to be one of the smallest infrared temperature sensors currently available on the market – the thermoMETER CSmicro.
A new data acquisition family called Trion will be available for inspection on the Dewetron stand (B7). The range of modular measurement systems are based on plug-in amplifier/digitizer modules sampling at 200kS/s with 24 bit resolution. Input modules are available for voltage measurement up to 1200V, strain gauges, IEPE accelerometers, Can Bus, IRIG and digital with super-counters. Trion system computer architecture is either i7 or PCI express with DEWESoft-7 data acquisition software included as standard. Portable systems are available with optional hot-swappable batteries and all systems can be supplied with a buffer battery for up to 10 minutes operation.
In the world of portable data acquisition of strain, temperature and vibration signals, m+p international offers the Ethernet based cube I/O chassis together with its Coda (Continuous Data Acquisition) software product.
The cube, manufactured by United Electronic Industries, is small and rugged, and can be used as a PC front-end or configured by m+p’s CODA software for standalone data logging. See it on stand B19.
Sensors & instrumentation
At this year’s show, Avancer will launch the range of Autonics Corporation sensors and instrumentation to the UK. The range includes rotary encoders, absolute encoders, proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, fibre optic sensors, as well as a range of instrumentation and process control products. The Burster 8661 series non-contact torque sensor is available from Ixthus, and will be on the company’s stand (A9) at the show. The torque sensor offers precise measurement of static and bi-directional rotating torques from 0…0.05Nm to 0…200Nm with full scale accuracy to 0.05% for analysing breakaway, holding and tightening torques in mechanical power applications.
