Compressor replacement gives us our daily bread

Problem: Haighs Bakery in West Yorkshire operates 24h/day, 6 days a week, supplying breads, cakes and savouries to corner shops, schools, bakeries, restaurants and catering companies. Compressed air is used to power the wrapping machines, and it was becoming apparent that the company’s existing and ageing compressor was no longer able to meet the demands of increasing production.

Solution: Boge was asked to review the system, and recommended replacing the ageing compressor with a Boge C 7 LDR screw compressor.

The package, comprising a CL series screw compressor and a refrigerant dryer are mounted on a horizontal compressed air receiver, was subsequently installed. One of its benefits is that it requires only a minimum footprint.

Adam Haigh, director of Haighs Bakery, said: “A real selling point for us was the option to rent the equipment. For us this was a vastly superior option to buying – Boge maintains the equipment – the compressor just produces the air that we need and we don’t have to worry about anything else. In fact we do not touch the compressor at all!”
