MasoSine CertaTM pumps offer significant advantages over alternative technologies in beverage handling

Certa TM sets even higher pumping standards in food and beverage processing. Offering EHEDG (Type EL Class I) and 3A certification as standard, Certa is extremely easy to clean for minimal maintenance and downtime.

This advanced pump technology not only delivers high suction capability to handle viscous products, it also offers significant advantages over alternative technologies with rotors that cut through the fluid. Certa’s sinusoidal rotor gently carries fluid through the pump to dramatically reduce shear while cutting power consumption by up to 50% with high viscosity fluids.

Pumping fruit juice or syrups may sound straightforward but this is far from the case. Fruit juice generally arrives at beverage plants in two components – as sugars and syrups/concentrates. In the case of the cold concentrates particularly, there are issues of acidity and high viscosity, which in turn can make pumping slow and prone to noise caused by cavitation if the correct pump type is not specified.

The unique MasoSine Certa pump design is ideal for the transfer of juice concentrates because they create powerful suction, reducing cavitation while increasing flow rates. Additionally, the low shear action generated by the single shaft and sinusoidal rotor, transports juice through the pump without damaging the product.

Broadland Wineries bring in wine by the tanker load, typically 24,000 litres at a time. The company’s previous positive displacement pumps were proving slow at transferring the wine from the tankers. In addition, the pumps were struggling with the concentrated, high viscosity fruit juices also delivered to Broadland to help make certain wines.

Efficiency was boosted by installing MasoSine process pumps and tanker offload times for wine were cut to 45 minutes – a process which previously took an hour. For fruit juice the impact was even bigger and what previously took all day in cold weather, is now decanted in four hours. Importantly, there is no oxygen introduced to the wine or juices in the transfer.

CertaTM pumps are fully CIP capable at flow rates up to 99,000 l/hr. CIP procedures require minimal downtime and also much reduced chemical and water use, while less wastewater requires disposal.
