Users of Bobst packaging manufacture equipment can now stay connected with their production, wherever they are in the world and whatever time of day it is, with Bobst apps for Remote Monitoring and Downtime Tracking. Available for PC’s, tablets and Smartphones, these apps give users live, accurate information about their machines, enabling them to make the fast decisions necessary to maintain maximum productivity.

Mike Rice, Bobst Regional Services Manager covering the UK, Ireland & Scandinavia, says that the company’s Remote Monitoring app not only shows the user the live and historic OEE of their machines, it can also be configured to show trends at a glance and to analyse productivity over time, by team, or by job. “The app can also generate automatic production reports via e-mail, export data in raw format for further analysis and can generate automatic alerts. We can also adapt the system to the user’s entire machine inventory, including machines not made by us. This sort of information allows production supervisors and managers to always be on top of their manufacturing, and to respond quickly to changes on the shop floor, even if they are miles away.”

The Bobst Downtime Tracking app allows users to view all machine stops, analyse their specific causes and measure the efficiency of their interventions in order to improve them. Thanks to an intuitive system and accurate reports, users can identify downtime at a glance, see what caused them, establish their frequency and correct the problem. “Some of our machines can even automatically register the cause of each downtime event,” explains Rice, “and with simple entry of the causes of downtime on our other machines, the app enables very efficient monitoring.” As with the Remote Monitoring app, the Downtime Tracking version can generate automatic production reports via e-mail, export data in raw format for further analysis and can generate automatic alerts – and can be adapted to the user’s machines not made by Bobst.

Most modern Bobst machines already have the necessary interfaces built in for Remote Monitoring and Downtime Tracking and just need an Internet connection and a subscription to the relevant Bobst service. This not only provides the necessary encrypted connection between each machine and each device, it also establishes a cloud based environment that securely stores and processes the user’s data. The apps themselves are free and the mobile versions are available for Apple and Android devices from the App Store and Google Play.

Bobst apps are part of the wide range of services Bobst offers its users. Alongside them the company has created an Open Interface platform which allows Bobst machines to be directly connected to users’ information systems. “This accelerates and improves data exchanges within a plant and lets users communicate directly with their production workshop, input client orders faster and improve productivity,” says Rice
