Bianchi, one of the most respected names in the cycling industry, has been using energy-efficient EG Series rotary screw compressors from ELGi Compressors Europe, a subsidiary of ELGi Equipments Limited, one of the world’s leading air compressor manufacturers, in their production facility in Treviglio, Italy, for many years. The compressed air system ensures clean and dry, reliable compressed air supply across every stage of the production — from precision assembly and finishing to the critically important painting process — delivering both operational efficiency and long-term energy savings.

Compressed air plays a crucial role in the bicycle manufacturing process, supplying continuous and efficient energy for powering assembly and finishing tools, operating pneumatic systems along the production line and more. It is particularly essential in the painting stage, where compressed air must be completely free from moisture and contaminants to ensure a high-quality finish.
To meet these requirements in Bianchi’s Treviglio site, ELGi’s Channel Partner MAFI installed two EG22V rotary screw compressors operating alternately to ensure balanced usage and optimal energy efficiency. To accommodate occasional peaks in demand, the team installed one EG15V unit in standby mode. Each compressor is equipped with a VFD, and the system includes optimised compressed air treatment — with dryers and filters — to ensure a consistent supply of clean, dry air for sensitive applications.

With an advanced and practical package layout, ELGi EG Series lubricated rotary screw air compressors are built to minimise system losses, support low-noise operation, and simplify maintenance. Featuring ELGi’s in-house developed η-V profile rotors, the airend design ensures exceptional performance and energy savings, at a low running speed. Other key components include efficient motors with enhanced windings, a high-performance intake valve system, and a three-stage oil removal process delivering oil carry-over of less than 1 ppm. A robust cooling system and components rated for extreme temperatures ensure consistent operation in a variety of environmental conditions. For the customers’ peace of mind, the ELGi EG Series also offers a warranty of ten years on the airend and a five-year warranty on the complete package.
