Trescal, the specialist provider of global calibration and measurement solutions, has officially opened the doors to its brand new facility in Derby – the UK’s only UKAS accredited rotary table Measurement Testing facility.

Located at Pride Park, Derby, the 25,000 sq. ft. facility has cost over £2 million to build and features the UK’s largest coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with rotary table measurement. Offering measurement volumes of 2.1m x 4.4m x1.6m, the CMM allows component parts of up to 10 metric tonnes to be measured – ideal for the aerospace and automotive industries.

The site features six laboratories, all operating under strict climatic conditions, in order to meet rigorous standards set by UKAS. The facility took around seven months to complete, and is now home to 46 employees. The skilled professionals bring a wealth of expertise to the East Midlands, offering a variety of technical capabilities including Dimensional, Electrical, Temperature, Pressure & Vacuum and Torque type calibrations, supported by Product Verification Measurements.

The measurement laboratory now features two brand new CMMs, the first with rotary table measurement and the second, a high accuracy machine that offers a measurement performance capability (MPE) of 0.0009mm+L/650mm. All-in-all, the new capabilities enable any business requiring large and accurate product measurements, to utilise this modern facility.
