NORSOK approved duplex and super duplex stainless steel pipe is now available ex-stock from Sandvik’s UK warehouse.
Exhibiting resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) as well as general corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion, the material grades also offer high mechanical strength, design advantages and good weldability.
“Listening to our customers requirements, we are pleased to have duplex pipe in stock in the UK; pipes can be delivered on-site within 24 hours, giving our customers better access to Sandvik material,” explained Haydn Eagle, Sandvik regional sales director, UK, Ireland, Mena & Turkey.
Sandvik SAF 2205 (UNS S31803) duplex stainless steel is approved to NORSOK MDS-41 Rev 4, while Sandvik SAF 2507 (UNS S32750) super duplex stainless steel is approved to NORSOK MDS-51 Rev 4. The material grades are available in a range of nominal size pipe diameters from ½ in to 8 in (Sch: 10/40/80/120/160).
Ideal for applications where chlorides and hydrogen sulphides are present, the corrosion resistant material grades are suitable for oil & gas extraction, process plants, chemical and petrochemical installations, particularly on heat transfer tubing where chloride bearing water is used as a cooling medium.
They are also used in desalination plants, pulp and paper mills, and in any aggressive chloride containing environment.
