Power Control Ltd, a leading power protection solutions provider has announced the release of the 5thgeneration Legrand TriMOD UPS system. This landmark release marks 20 years since the original TriMOD was developed and demonstrates Legrand’s commitment to continuous development in modular UPS technology.

The Legrand TriMOD UPS now combines unprecedented flexibility, high efficiency and dynamic design to meet the rigorous demands of today’s critical infrastructures. Commenting on the newest addition to the Power Control UPS product portfolio, the company’s head of sales, Matt de Frece said: “The 5th generation TriMOD UPS is one of the most capable and versatile UPS systems we have ever brought to market. We have seen modular UPS technology evolve over the last two decades, alongside the needs of our customers, and this most recent release reflects everything we have learned.
“Modern facilities need scalability, efficiency and unique phase flexibility, which the Legrand TriMOD UPS delivers on all levels.”
Available from 10kVA to 80kVA within a single system, the Legrand TriMOD UPS supports all applications, from smaller devices to demanding critical equipment. Where additional capacity or redundancy is required, units can be paralleled to deliver configurations of up to 160kW. Its self-configuring single-phase power modules enable N+X redundancy, maximising system resilience and uptime without the need for premature replacement or system overhaul.
Operating at up to 96.5% efficiency, the 5th generation Legrand TriMOD UPS significantly reduces energy losses and lowers operational costs compared to previous generations. The system operates with a unity power factor (power factor = 1), enabling it to deliver its full rated power as usable output. This presents a critical advantage in data centre environments where maximising real power availability is essential.
The Legrand TriMOD UPS’s configurable phase architecture is one of its most distinctive attributes. Built from single-phase modules, the system can be arranged as single-phase input and output; three phase input with single phase output; full three-phase operation; or single-phase input with three phase output.
The 1:3 phase conversion capability provides three-phase output from a single-phase input, which is rarely available in the UPS market and addresses a specific challenge faced by smaller sites and older buildings limited to a single-phase supply. Rather than costly infrastructure upgrades or external phase conversion equipment, the Legrand TriMOD UPS integrates both functions into a single compact system, effectively acting as both a phase converter and a UPS with built-in battery backup.
Within a 30kVA chassis, the Legrand TriMOD UPS can deliver up to three separate 10kW outputs, which effectively replaces three individual single-phase UPS systems. This reduces physical footprint and installation complexity whilst maintaining full operational performance, making it ideal for applications requiring multiple independent power feeds such as separate IPS systems.
The TriMOD UPS is suited to a broad range of environments where power continuity is non-negotiable, including IT, healthcare, industrial settings, commercial facilities and data centres. Its hot-swappable power modules allow maintenance and upgrades to be performed without system shutdown, maximising uptime in critical environments.
