Chell’s AIM100 provides immediate warning of poor power generating plant condenser performance caused by air ingress, tube fouling or extraction plant inefficiency. Continuous data is output, quantifying and trending air ingress level, providing a temperature change indication on tube fouling & an absolute pressure change on deteriorating pump performance.
Poor condenser performance is the biggest single cause of generating cycle inefficiency and, if left uncorrected, will lead to the loss of several million £’s worth of additional fuel costs each year. With over a hundred installations over 20 years, user’s data feedback confirms that financial payback for the installation can be as short as several weeks.
Additional operating costs are added by the side-effects of air ingress including increased levels of dissolved oxygen in the water being returned to the boiler and accelerating corrosion. It also raises turbine backpressure, often leading to water droplet formation in the turbine causing blade erosion & further loss of efficiency.
