MMS Electronics has added two new displays to their extensive range of programmable displays. EA uniTFT050 (5.0” 800×480 pixel) and EA uniTFT101 (10.1” IPS 1280×800 pixel) use the new UNISKETCH software with drag and drop function and object graphics programming. Design engineers and systems integrators benefit from shorter development times and gain more flexibility. These TFT display modules, with on-board powerful controller, open up many new possibilities for developers and users.
Objects can be placed, moved, rotated, combined and deleted at any time. All objects can be positioned, rotated and zoomed in as required. Attributes such as transparency and colour can be assigned. Objects can be linked to actions or I/O. Elegant effects such as fading in and out or flying in are possible. Commands for sliders, dials, buttons, images, MP3 sound files, data logging and calculations are included. With the use of style sheets, it is possible to standardise the look of these elements, thereby creating stylish and user-friendly designs. For example, a virtual keyboard, analogue rotary instrument and bar graphs can be generated on the screen with just a few simple commands. The instruments can be linked to an input and the on-board processor can scale the input signal and update the display. In many cases the on-board processor can take on most control tasks and no external controller is required.
For the EA uniTFT display a new PC graphic tool is designed. The uniSKETCH software enables users to create screen layouts and interfaces, edit properties of objects and adapt style sheets. Sounds, clicks or voice messages can also be attached for acoustic feedback.
For connection to external devices, actuators or sensors there are 7 interfaces available: USB, 2 x SPI, 2 x RS-232 and 2 x I²C (master or slave). Additionally, there are 4 analogue inputs, one PWM output, 16 digital I/O and an SD card. The EA uniTFT even has an analogue video camera input for direct playback. The displays are available from MMS Electronics Ltd with resistive or PCAP touch-screen. The PCAP touch version has multi-touch functions as found with smartphones. The touch-screen controller with commands are all already integrated in the display modules.
To discover all the features, download the augmented reality uniTFT AR for Android or iOS, or install the uniSKETCH programme and use the simulator to work through the demo programmes on your desktop.
An example application would be a data logger. Measurement can be made at specified times programmed by the user and under control of the on-board real-time clock. If an alarm is triggered a picture from the video camera could document the alarm situation. All measurement are stored on the SD card and called up or displayed as an X-Y graph.
