Process filtration and water treatment specialists Fileder Filter Systems are delighted to be returning to the Processing and Packaging show (PPMA) bringing their range of products and experience to solve the water and liquid challenges faced within the process industries.

When water or other liquids play a key part in machinery operation or the end product produced, then in many cases the quality of that water or liquid needs to be consistent to maintain quality control and prevent high maintenance costs.

For over 35 years, Fileder has been providing solutions to process industries including:-

Food – Beverage – Pharmaceutical – Cosmetics & Toiletries – Chemical

Examples of common applications from these industries range from the simple to the more challenging:-

Cryptosporidium Removal

In food preparation, food wash and beverage production Pleated filtration in stainless steel housings are key equipment chosen to provide essential protection against Cryptosporidium, Giardia and other harmful microorganisms. Fileder’s range of SPECTRUM pleated cartridges includes the certified, WRAS approved, FDA compliant Premier Pleat Glass Fibre (PPG) cartridges for high flow, absolute rated Cryptosporidium protection.

Cooling Loop Water

LPHW (low pressure hot water) and cooling loop water play key parts in the reliability of manufacturing machinery. Where continuous or time-managed operation is essential, Fileder’s product portfolio offers various filtration options to maintain liquid quality, accommodate application flow rate and remove various particle size in order to maintain operational continuity.

Where coolant is used in CNC machining, clients benefit from using depth or pleated cartridges to remove swarf and debris to keep the coolant at a good quality.

Boiler Efficiency

To reduce operating and maintenance costs and increase the efficiency of boiler performance, protecting boiler equipment is strongly advised, if not essential, particularly where water hardness exists. Solutions will be dependent upon flow rates and water quality, dictating the multi-stage water treatment processes then required. Bag filters and stainless steel housings are perfect for high flow sediment removal, water softening for scale control and Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems recommended for pure water production.

Pilot & Full Scale Plant Production

Many companies within the processing industry operate small-scale, pilot plant and final up-scaled production, continuity of product quality is essential. Where filtration of liquids are concerned, product choice has to be from dependable supply and of consistent quality to ensure up-scaling is successful.

Pure Water Production

Common in pharmaceutical and cosmetics production is the requirement for pure water in the manufacturing process. Using the science of reverse osmosis, systems are available in various sizes from small-scale 1 lpm water production to 50+ lpm and incorporate prefiltration to improve productivity and extend membrane life, typically, a sub-micron post filter is added to safeguard against bacteria affecting the final product.

Fileder’s range of SPECTRUM RO systems and components offer multiple options for pure water production, with the post addition of the SPECTRUM PPPES (Premier Pleat polyethersulfone) sub-micron filters, constructed from FDA compliant materials that have bacteria retention rates in excess of Log 7, ensuring absolute final filtration for fine process liquids.

Bulk Solids Removal

For the consistent manufacture of products such as shampoo, shower gel, beauty creams and industrial chemicals such as cleaners and automotive liquids, coagulated ingredients are removed from both the raw materials used, and in the final product. Bag filters in stainless steel housings are typical for these applications due to their bulk removal capability and high flow rates of viscous liquids.

Bacterial Control

Controlling microorganisms on incoming and outlet water supplies is a bigger challenge for some than others. Factors such as private water supply (eg boreholes), old pipework with ‘dead legs’ and warm/hot working environments all have an effect on the levels of microorganisms present.

Biofilm build-up in pipework has the ability to harbour bacteria growth that later disperses into the water stream in large, dangerous amounts.

Whether it be prevention of biofilm build-up or protection from the microorganisms produced within the water network, Fileder supplies solutions for the incoming water to cover the whole site or systems that are applied only at the point-of-use. Typically, these systems will include physical filtration with pleated cartridges and ultraviolet (UV) light technology.

Contact Fileder on the below details if you require some immediate assistance, or come and visit the Fileder stand (E50) at the PPMA show this September and discuss your water challenges with one of our technical team.

Whilst you are with us, take up the Fileder challenge to see how good you are at ‘striking out bacteria’, successful participants will be added to the Prize Draw with a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford OR Ed Sheeran tickets at Wembley in 2018… Interested? Register here and see you in September. https://ppma-2017-visitor.reg.buzz
