Farming UK recently reported that food and drink fraud costs the consumer an estimated £424 annually per household. Startling figures were presented: the price of a loaf of bread could be reduced by 5p, 11p would be slashed off eggs, and UK consumers could save 16p off a pint of beer and 28p on a bottle of wine. Statistics like these are make the case for a crackdown on food fraud stronger – something that food safety software company QADEX is passionate about.

Tracey Cranney, operations manager at QADEX, said, “In recent years the spotlight has been on food fraud and criminals within the industry who are misleading customers. Retailers and manufacturers are an unknowing cog in the food fraud machine as it becomes harder to keep on top of supplier compliance. Our software combats this issue, protecting brand reputation and tackling the wider issue of global food fraud.”

QADEX Vision actively helps businesses in every aspect of food safety and compliance.  From internal audits and allergen labelling to full supplier management modules, it is a vital tool for manufacturers, processors, retailers and wholesalers. The Supplier Management module deals with everything from the very start of the business partnership: with robust supplier risk assessments, certification management and auditing of suppliers and supply chains.

Tracey added, “QADEX brings everything together in one user-friendly dashboard. Each business can create a bespoke software tailored to them, with a range of different modules and features.  We really hope that we can make a positive impact on the fight against food fraud, and by keeping strict checks on suppliers a more transparent system can be achieved.”

One of the latest modules is the Customer Complaints Software, which can recognise any trends in complaints and flag up issues with certain products or suppliers. Therefore if the business does fall victim to food fraud, it can rectify the matter as soon as possible and control the handling of the complaints.
