RS Components (RS) the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, a global multi-channel distributor, will be helping manufacturing businesses explore opportunities and challenges of the digitisation of manufacturing at the Smart Factory Expo 2018 – Europe’s largest digital manufacturing focused event, which is being held from 14 to 15 November in Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre in King’s Dock.

RS makes its debut at the event this year, and will be highlighting its strong partnerships with the manufacturers who are trail-blazing in the IIoT space, as well as demonstrating the products already stocked, which can help customers begin to embrace the benefits of a more connected production environment.

RS will be showcasing a brand new-to-market product, the Brainboxes BB-400 Edge Controller, and will have the Brainboxes team on hand at the event. There will also be a selection of other ‘connected’ products on display, from leading brands such as Phoenix Contact.

Richard Jeffers, RS technical director for Northern Europe, said: “We decided to be at the Smart Factory Expo as the show can help us to engage with customers, understand their aspirations for the future, and help them discover the technologies that could be the key enablers for them when it comes to the digitisation of manufacturing. We feel that as a distributor with a digital business at our heart, this event is the perfect fit, as the concept of IIoT starts to gain momentum and genuine solutions emerge.”

Visitors will have opportunities to meet and discuss potential projects with the recently-formed RS Technical Solutions team, which is already working with key customers and technology suppliers to develop IIoT powered solutions to add intelligence to maintenance activities, and release production data trapped in PLCs and control systems into the cloud.

RS will be on stand B41.
