Having already established its reputation as a global leader in the development of condensate filtration, Bowman Stor took another leap forward when it introduced its formidable mid-range family of oil/water separators.

Created to handle capacities from 120 to 2500 cfm, the SEPURA™ Mid-range series stands head and shoulders above the competition thanks to smart, economical design and one special formula – the unique SILEXA™ media. Developed in the research laboratories of the UK-based company, the patented media is manufactured from recycled glass making it a highly sustainable material. SILEXA has also been proven to be lighter, 20% more absorbent per weight, and cleaner compared to other OEM products.

Naturally, it is the pursuit of a cleaner environment that drives much of the groundbreaking technology behind SEPURA’s products and, quite rightly, compliance is vital for any industry. The water resources act was introduced to place legal restrictions on industrial discharges to ground, waterway, or storm-water drains – and there are important reasons behind it, as Bowman’s managing director, Richard Potts explains:

“It only takes 250ml of oil to cover acres of water surface – reducing the effectiveness of treatment plants, preventing oxygenation, and killing wildlife. A modest 18kW compressor might generate close to ten thousand litres of condensate each year, often containing up to 1000ppm of oil and other waste at the point of discharge. 99.9% of condensate is water, so it makes sense to clean it on site before discharge to the sewer.

Outlet to the sewer system is controlled by local authorities, which do not usually allow discharges containing more than 20ppm of oil to be introduced to the drains. Expectations are that limits will reduce in the future and some European countries already insist on a maximum of 10ppm.

SEPURA offers the most economical, simple, reliable and environmentally sound method of complying with the legal requirements – with outlet quality better than 10ppm for up to 4000 hours of filter life in many applications.”

As an alternative to using the standard 120, 360, 900 and 1250 units, users can increase their filtration capacity by using ancillary equipment to “double up” using the 900/1250 units to 1800 and 2500 cfm respectively.

Medium capacity separator units and their associated filtration products cover a wide variety of applications throughout the process industry, offering peace of mind to many users. With larger units available for high capacity systems, customers can be assured that SEPURA has a solution to their individual requirements.
