With 51% of manufacturing industry executives expecting their biggest business challenge to be high energy costs, the experts at Utility Bidder share six factors manufacturing business owners should consider before switching to a new energy deal, and offer advice on the best time of the year to switch.

1 – Understand your peak energy times

For most manufacturing businesses, energy usage will peak during the winter months, so avoiding these busier periods is important before you switch to a new deal. To help drive your energy deal down, look for a new tariff during the spring and summer months when your business energy usage is lower, as this will then be reflected in your new deal.

Throughout the year, businesses should consider scheduling machinery usage during off-peak hours or when energy demand is lower to help reduce overall consumption and costs. When it comes to high-demand manufacturing processes, energy storage solutions like batteries allow businesses to collect and store energy during off-peak hours, when prices are lower. This energy can then be used during peak periods.

2 – Don’t wait until the last minute
