Greenock-based Rossyew is using Landia pumps to convert Scottish Salmon by-products into specialty oil and protein ingredients for pig, poultry, pet and aqua feeds. The pumps have been designed for the fish processing industry and feature extra cutting blades.

The stainless steel, long-shaft MPFR-I pumps are 5”, 15kw units and, according to Landia, are proven to be energy efficient and reliable in what is a tough application.

Rossyew’s Michael Cox, said: “When we set up our modern factory (which is approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environmental Agencies and Feed Manufacturing Assurances Schemes to conform to all EU fish by-product processing regulations), we knew we had to invest in no-nonsense pumps that wouldn’t burden our productivity with downtime. Landia’s equipment works very well indeed.”

The pumps are being used to help produce Salmon Pro, a palatable hydrolysed Salmon protein hydrolysate, and Rossyew Scottish Salmon Oil, which contains anti-inflammatory properties to improve animal welfare and fertility.

Landia has also recently installed equipment at fish farms in Chile, where its pumps and mixers are playing a key role in the processing of farmed salmon mortalities and by-products.
